My early-ish MY13 Ampera has been offered an ECU software update for the brake module. This is after I saw here there was a service notice about it in the US but it has not been done here.

What is this new brake ECU, and is it worth doing? I have the 'squelching' noise on a light application of the brakes when stationary or slow. It was looking this characteristic up that made me realise there was a software update and ask about it.

Should I bother to have it done?

Yep. that is what it is. I have 2 2013s. One built early and had that problem. Brakes made some noise and was a little squishy. The update fixed the noise and the pedal.
