This report came out today and they are claiming that this is an Opel Flextreme mule and I'm wondering this isn't the sheet metal that the Volt will be wearing. I looked at the side view picture for quite some time and compared it with the taped up wind tunnel machine and I can almost convince myself that it looks right.

I do have to say that if this is the Volt skin I'm really disappointed and turned off by the styling. This would be a tough sell to me, especially at $30,000 plus.

Don't panic. You're wrong. That's not the Volt or even a Volt prototype. It's a 2006 Opel Vectra. Quite possibly a test bed mule just like the Malibus. If it has anything to do with E-Flex is anybody's guess.

Thanks for input folks, I was probably having some sort of syndrome related to the warm Friday afternoon weather and the approaching weekend which caused me to jump to conclusions.

I think I'm just eager to see what the Volt will look like so that I can make a decision as to whether it will appeal to me or not. I'm sure most are in that same boat.

Different Strokes

Taste in auto design varies widely. I can't gag at that auto in the picture. At a quick, first glance it could pass for an Audi or a Acura. Two notably ugly cars..............that make millions for their manufacturers. I'd buy one. If............. it has to deliver the goods folks. 40 mile all electric range, 500-600 mile "extended" range on UL 87 octane. It can look like my 85 Dodge Omni, I don't care. Gas is now $4.40 in California and going up $0.02 a day. Let's revisit this in August, and then again next July, 2009. Care to wager on the price then ?? And by 2010, if GM isn't bankrupt, the single most important thing may be the performance. It may not be, but we don't know that now.:)
