Hello all,

Woke up this morning to 23 degree weather and went to start the 12' volt (it was plugged in all night and has a full battery) and got the check engine light...
P0AA6
P1E00
P1FFF

From what I have read, this has to do with low battery fluid level. I checked this and it looks fine to me, not full but, close-ish. So that would leave the other possibility of a bad sensor or wiring... else some have suggested reprogramming/updating the car with software... (im trying to go this route and waiting for the part to come in)

I cleared the errors and tried starting the car again... didnt get a check engine light but the HV battery is still grayed out and it went straight into ICE mode...

Question is... am I going about this right and given that it was so cold out, would it be wishful thinking that the error will go away when it warms up?

Thanks

Your battery may just be too cold and the ICE is coming on to heat it up. Did you see a message Engine Running due To Temperature (ERDTT)? Did you try driving it or letting it run?

No I didnt drive it anywhere. Last year I got that message a few time, this time I think it was "Service High Voltage Charging System"

A new cable to the sensor and or the new tank sensor - plus re-programming did fix me up last month

but I always had the engine light come on the 3 times I had those exact same codes

DO try to warm up in MM mode and re-test

With SHVCS message you can’t charge from your EVSE. Until it’s fixed use Mountain mode to keep the 4 bars of state of charge showing. If you get a propulsion reduced message Do Not Shut it off! Until the message goes away.

My 2012 went to gas yesterday 3-4 miles into my trip while going up a hill on the freeway. No ERDTT message and it switched back to battery after a couple of miles and gave me 23 miles of electric with 6 left in the battery. It had gotten down to 30 the night before, but it was 44 at the time it switched over. I have been experiencing PPR messages at times for more than a year and a half, but this is the first time I experienced this. I assume I am getting closer to my 2012's end of life. I might have to start using mountain mode this winter.

Little bit of an update... So I cleared the errors a few days ago and let it sit. Came back to it yesterday and it was back to normal.

So, should I got ahead and get the reprogramming done or? The local dealer suggested that it was required

Watch and see if the error comes back. If it does...

As others mentioned above, my understanding was that once the SHVCS warning gets triggered, the error "laches" and EVSE charging is locked out (amber light only) until the car is reprogrammed to unlatch the codes.
Are you able to charge with your EVSE?
I have the same errors and (so far) have not been able to charge with the EVSE. Just wondering if your experience might offer a sliver of hope?

Not all SHVCS codes latch, or come on instantly. P0AFA (low voltage in HV pack) latches and happens with a single event. P0AA6 (loss of isolation in HV pack) takes five consecutive readings showing low resistance where there should be high and clears with a single OFF/ON cycle if the resistance comes back up.

Yes I am able to charge the car. It was the trip the other day that I planned to have the dealer look at it, but when it ran without an issue. I called it off
