Is there a primer somewhere that reviews the charging settings for the Gen2s? I had a Gen 1 Volt and it would immediately start charging during off peak when plugged in prior to off peak. With the Gen 2 I thought I set it up similarly but what I'm finding is that it's not starting to charge until later into off peak so that it's fully charged by my departure time.

Anyway, any info you all can point me to would be appreciated. The manual is sorely lacking in this area.

Have you logged in to MyVolt.com at https://secure.myvolt.com/web/portal/home ? You will need to enter your OnStar User ID and Password.

You can view and change your charging status. You can select either immediate charging, delayed - departure time charging or delayed - rate & departure time charging.

Yes but that page is pretty much what the car offers through the dash.

What I want is for the car to start charging as soon as Off Peak rates kick in. I don't want it to charge it in time for me to leave for work in the morning as I often go out at night for various reasons. My 2015 worked this way but it's been 3 years since I programmed it and can't recall how I got it to charge this way.

Did the programming change or was I the beneficiary of a bug?

Did you read the section of the Volt Owner's Manual on Programmable Charging? Starting on page 122 the manual states you can select earliest or latest departure time and also specify charging only during off-peak rate periods. I don't use this feature, can't advise further.

There is an option for this. From p. 121 of the 2016 Volt manual:

Charge Rate Information

From the Delayed Charge Mode Status screen, touch Charge Rate Information.

Select one of the following:
. Charge Completion: Earliest Possible/Latest Possible.
. Electric Rate Schedule.
. Charge Rate Preference
Under Charge Completion, choose Earliest Possible. This command is then combined with your electric rate schedule and charge rate preference (off peak, mid peak, peak) to choose the charging start time, and the departure time will be ignored.
