Yes, I used to slam mine shut, but I learned that a firm slow close while pushing where the latch engages works 99% of the time.

I have been getting this issue more and more lately. Are there any DIY solution to this issue? I'm selling my car in two weeks and want to have this be fixed before the person buying it takes delivery!
