Do you own a Volt? - because the answer to both questions are in the manual. If you don't yet own a Volt and you are just tire kicking then for Q1 do you mean benefit to charging at 12A versus 8A? If yes, then the difference is 6 hours less time (19 versus 13 hours). And yes it does have a WiFi hotspot, which you have to pay a data charge for (obviously...).

Two questions re: 2018 Volt. 1. Any benefit to charging with 120 VAC @12A setting. Faster than 8A? Also does car have WIFI hotspot?
A1: Yes, you can charge 1/3rd faster at 120V and 12 amps versus 120V and 8 amps provided you have a dedicated 15 amp circuit or a 20 amp circuit. The 12 amp setting results in the maximum allowable load (1440W) on a 15 amp circuit so no other devices can be in use on the circuit when charging.

A2: Yes, you need an optional OnStar data plan to be able to use the WIFI hotspot (the hotspot supports up to 7 devices.) An unlimited OnStar data plan currently costs $20 per month.
