Let's say a weekend drive almost completely discharges my battery (let's say there's 10% left in the battery), but when I come home, the off peak is only from 22:00 - 6:00 hours. I can only charge at max [email protected]

On a regular working day I only need about 6-7kWh of energy with my 2012 Ampera. 8 hours of overnight charging would add about 28kWh of energy into the Bolt's battery, which is plenty for a Monday and there would still be plenty left in the battery. On Tuesday it would again charge only from 22:00 - 6:00. So, by Friday, the Bolt's battery with only overnight charging would get full for the weekend driving.

How would one accomplish, that the Bolt would charge only from 22:00 - 6:00 without a plug timer, but with a car's charging modes settings?

Personally with my Volt I currently just set it using delayed charging. And I have it setup to have the car charged by 6am. So if I only need to add 7KWh (2 hours charging) the car will start charging at 4am and finish by 6am.

Though there are TOU charge settings as well. In which you can tell the car your peak, mid-peak and off peak times and it will try to maximize off peak charging to fully charge you.

Based on my 2015 Volt, you would set the peak and off peak hours. Weekday and Weekend hours can be set differently. Then set the car to only charge during off-peak.

Once the peak time is reached the car stops charging. If the car is still plugged in when the off-peak starts, charging resumes. When the Volt displays how long it will take to fully charge, it takes into account the peak and off-peak times and calculates accordingly.

To temporarily override the peak off-peak charge time settings, either use the charge button on the fob or plug, unplug, plug the charge cord.

I can only speculate that the Bolt will have similar functionality.

We don't have the Bolt manual yet, but assuming it operates the same as the Volt, check out page 122 here: https://my.chevrolet.com/content/da...uals/2016/Chevrolet/Volt/2k16volt1stPrint.pdf

There's an option to have it only charge during off-peak hours and another setting for charging only during off-peak OR mid-peak hours with a priority for off-peak. I think that should do what you're asking for.
Thank you! That's exactly what I needed - to charge only at nightly off peak hours. I don't need the Bolt fully charged on the first night of the work day. I only need those 28kWh (3.7kW - 16A*230V), because I will consume less than 10kWh of those 28kWh, so 18kWh will stay in the battery. The same will apply the next night and before the end of the work week, the battery will get fully charged.

Thank you all!
