The charger has no pocket. It's bolted behind the front right bumper. You are referring to the charge cord (or EVSE for short).

Is there a reason not to just add it to the crap? I mean, if you're carrying around so much stuff that you can't get to the stow slot, what's one more thing?

I keep mine on the floor behind the driver seat. Nobody ever rides in back anyway. Too much wear and tear on the hatch and lift struts to be opening it all the time. My boss lets me plug in at work, so I use it every day I'm there.

The Gen II is more forgiving and much easier to grab, go and return to stowage area. But to be honest after my first road trip in my 2012 back in April 2012 (which turned out to be a major PITA) to include tripping breakers at a my in-laws house, horn honking in middle of the night at the hotel we stayed at and only recovering maybe 20 miles of range, I never used the OEM EVSE away from home.

That's a lot like my experience. I used it for a while at home, attached to the wall, until I got my Level 2, then it went into the trunk. Now it comes out in July to plug into my boathouse, then back in the trunk in September for another year. One cycle of plug and stow per every twelve months.
