To recover R&D, tooling, battery costs etc...the Volt required a Cadillac price point. This was a hard lesson learned and why gm's next EV's will be Caddy's. The Volt was too expensive to build and sell under a Chevrolet badge. The Velite 6 is a classy version, but would it have sold in NA for $50+? Its kinda funny how gm abandoned the PHEV, while others have picked it up, especially Toyota. The crux of building out an BEV fleet is battery supply...Tesla has always been ahead, and will continue to lead if they keep deliveries and quality up.

They tried selling the ELR but that didn't go so well either due to the price and performance.

A gorgeously styled 2-seater Volt at $75k. WAYYY over priced.
