Subject line of the email: Jeremy, the all-electric Bolt EV is available in your area

I clicked on the "locate dealer" button and found several dealers with a total of 12 Bolts available in the Detroit Metro area.

Looks like the rollout really HAS been pulled forward. Sounds like plenty of inventory to go around right now.

Bolts are in IL also (I forget what the release schedule was). if I didn't already have a perfectly good Volt, a Bolt would be a great commuter car for me, well within range. But since I already have a volt, the next vehicle needs to fulfill the big family/cargo hauler catrgory (voltec Equinox, Silverado, or Subyukonade). My wife is quite smitten with a Land Rover after a trip to Europe, but the price for a diesel is close to $58k. At some point we might as well pay just a little more for a Model S or X.

I got the email today also, but when I went to locate dealer, the nearest ones to me were in Pennsylvania and Michigan. I can't find any in Ohio.

I got the same email in Texas. 'Locate' button shows twenty-five dealers in the DFW area. Including Classic in Grapevine.

Might be time for a test drive!

/autotrader shows a good inventory sampling, but, not a lot of them.

Yes, it is weird to see them discounting it $3500 or more in some areas and none in other areas. I wonder how the 2018 Bolt EV will work. It seems to me they should wait until they sell down some existing inventory and keep shipping 2017 models until the end of the year or something.

With the glut of inventory, I imagine there's going to be some deep discounts in September.
I got "into it" with Zach, over at Cleantechnica regarding the inventory issue. I think that 5000 is perfectly reasonable, considering the plant is going to be down for two weeks (due to low Sonic sales) and they're releasing the car to 32 more states in the next 1-2 months. Those 5000 will be absorbed pretty quickly.

Why would there be discounts on car that has still has people waiting in line with money in hand for the car? There only appears to be a glut of inventory because there are 50 states of inventory in the system and your comparing it to sales of past data that did not include all 50 states.

If the price gets cut in half when including the fed tax credit, I might consider it. But as long as the paid-for volt is working there is no math that justifies trading in a Volt for a Bolt except just wanting one.

The Toyota Prime is suppose to be hot, but in the Northeast, they're being discounted $3500.
I wouldn't wish a Prius onto anyone, no matter how big of a discount.

Because when Chevy comes out with their 2018 models, they'll be eager to dump the 2017s. You're assuming the glut of 2017 models will be pushed out to the rest of the states, but reality will be that they get 2018 models along with the previous states. So yeah, that big inventory of 2017s will get a deep discount around late September, early October.

I got that same email. We only have two dealers in the area that signed up to sell the Bolt. My dealer got one and let me take it for a day. It was everything I was hoping for and more. They said they don't have anymore coming down the pipeline but will be ordering one in a few weeks. No inventory in central IL area. I am definitely going to get one once we get some inventory
