Have to replace the Battery Energy Control Module on a new 2017 Bolt. Has a service high voltage charging system error on the dash. The car has never been charged since it came from the factory, will not charge on level 1, 2 or DC fast. The battery was very easy to remove, only took about 20 minutes to get the battery out and apart for repair.

I showed it to my wife to show her what she's sitting on :)

Thanks a bunch for posting, MP.

I posted in another thread that she never realized how much she had been checking gas prices until she started driving the Bolt. Now, it's like gas stations don't exist, lol.

I love the "caution high voltage" cones. Are you required to use those whenever you remove a battery whether it is a Volt, Bolt, Spark EV, or Malibu Hybrid?

I kinda want to put those out when I'm charging in public just to freak people out lol.

When my '12 Volt was in the dealership to take care of the "regen saw noise" problem, the dealership tech had to cordon off an area of the dealership with cones while my Volt was on the lift. So any vehicle on a lift having a HVB probably needs to be coned off.

I need to get some of those cones and put them around my Volt/Bolt if I go black friday shopping...

I remember seeing police tape around a Saturn when the dealer was changing the hybrid battery. I guess the cones were easier to deal with.

Even with the cones out warning others, they still come and look at what I'am doing and try to get a good look at the battery. Not sure what they are thinking when they see the cones and me wearing high voltage gloves and other PPE gear. Still waiting for someone to prove Darwin"s theory of evolution!

Don't have a Bolt but I completely understand. I have to sometimes ask people at work what gas prices are as I only bother to check when I take a trip out of town.
A month after I got my first Volt (nearly 5 years ago), I deleted the GasBuddy app off of my phone and never checked prices again. Even for a trip, it doesn't matter. I just stop at the nearest tier-1 when the tank goes empty.

I never did buy cheap gas. Most of my cars required or recommended premium anyway.

I agree....and with as small as the tank on the Volt is, a few cents difference per gallon isn't really a big deal. Of course I do have my preferred station brands and generally paying cash cuts any premium down to a more realistic price that's in line even with the lower tiered gas options. I think since I've gotten the Volt I've gone from spending about $150/month in gas to about $40 in electricity, and a maybe $10 in gas if I go outside my EV range.

Nice to have an inside look - probably something we'd never see otherwise :)

Thanks for sharing.
