Hi all,
I have a 2018 premier and would like to use a old iphone just plugged into carplay for nav and leave it in the car all the time; and then when I get in the car with my current iphone I would like it to connect to the car via bluetooth for phone and maybe even music... any thoughts, cant seem to get this to work.

I don't think you can pair more than one phone to the car at a time.

Have your tried turning off the bluetooth on the old iphone?

The Volt can remember the pairing of more that one phone

ie say something like blue tooth -- list ?

but as Steverino said using more than one at the same time may not work

For the Apple iOS several ways to turn off blue tooth but one will turn it back on the next day

but dad , how does the TV know I just pushed the on button on the remote if the TV is OFF

I believe you can add more than 1 phone to your interface and you can easily choose between the phones using the settings in Carplay/AA to select which one is active, but you cannot mix and match and have nav from one phone and music or phone features from the other ... its an either/or situation not a best of both worlds ! (unfortunately).

I routinely plug both my iPhone (my main phone) into the car and also an old Android phone that I picked up. As OnStar data is too expensive in Canada I tether the android phone (which has no sim or cellular service) to my iPhone for data and I then use that phone to get Waze via Android Auto on my screen. Its a little clunky in the MyLink interface, but you can switch from Carplay to AA via the respective entries in the settings menu. You just need to change the active phone to the one you want. Most times it works just fine and I routinely switch from the Android phone displaying Waze to my iPhone to take a call. On the odd occasion I do have to pull one or both USB cables to get it to switch over but that's not a regular occurrence.

I would love to use Waze from my Android phone whilst still having my iPhone hooked up to use phone and/or music functions but cannot see any way to do it .... if someone knows different I am all ears !

I BT Pair a S7 Android and an IPHONE 6 at the same time in my 2017 volt LT
Yes, but you don't have them both active at the same time... you have to pick which one will be active (i.e., the one you control via the buttons on the steering wheel).

Also, for the OP's original question: Connecting a phone via CarPlay or Android Auto will disconnect any connected bluetooth phone.
