For the first time I need to add a small amount of Dexcool Premix to bring the battery coolant of my 2015 back up to the top of the label. If you have added battery coolant, how have you released the cap from the locking ring? I suppose just bending it upwards would work, but is there a better way?

Also I assume that all three Dexcool reservoirs are to be restored to proper levels when cold. Correct?

Thanks in advance.

It's held on by a 10MM bolt. Either lift the locking ring up or remove or loosen the 10MM bolt holding it down.

Funny, I thought that lock could only be removed by a, quoting the owners manual, "qualified technician." Should we be giving out this information to anyone who asks?

I'm sure kns is qualified. But we need to be careful! ;)

if by "qualified technician" they mean anyone who has half a brain, then we'd all qualify for being able to.....I think the better phrase is "should only be opened by a qualified technician". For a small top off, I don't see the hard in the average person being able to. Now if it's significantly low, or empty then I absolutely recommend a visit to the service department.

I agree but it is only about 2" below the top of the label. Engine coolant is also a bit low. Electronics coolant is right on the mark. After two years and 15k miles and no fluids on the garage floor I am not concerned about a leak.
