I got this on a Black Friday deal, but am so pleased with it I am sharing... ~$20

1) Fits in the Driver side door's umbrella pocket snugly, "like a glove", and sticks out just enough to grab the handle.
2) One button action to fully open and lock is very nice..
3) Press same button when open to collapse the canopy!
4) Good construction, not cheapo.

Item #3 is the real deal closer. When getting into the car during rain, having a single handed collapse the canopy function is wizard. It is still about 60% the length but the width is under 10" so you can QUICKLY bring it in and close the door. Yay for random finds! Recommended for the Volt lover in your family.

I bought a nice medium sized London Fog with auto open/close that fits perfectly. Bought it at JC Penney.

Umbrella you linked to is an $8 cheapo and you paid $20 on sale? I must be missing something. I bought an auto open/close for $10 2.5 years ago when I get the car and it's served me well.

I paid about $7 with free shipping. The $13 extra dollars you might pay are for knowing this one really isn't cheaply made, fits your car perfectly and that you can just order one.. I bought 3 actually and my mom is now getting one for xmas since she commented on liking how mine worked.

If you know of another brand and model you like better, please post a link! This one is cheap enough I could switch without much pain. ;)

I haven't found any that fit snugly. What one person mentioned a few years ago is to get the stick-on pads used for the bottom of furniture to protect floors and to put a few pieces inside the umbrella opening. This will narrow the diameter a little and also add some texture for the umbrella to grip to. Seems to work pretty well for me. Occasionally it will still fall out, but not as often anymore.
