Hi all, anyone have any input on the best cargo mat? I have weathertech mats, and I like that the weathertech one is definitely turned up around the edges to catch liquid spills, but it is very expensive. The Husky is cheaper and looks like a weathertech copy, but doesn't look like as good of quality in online photos- GM looks like good OEM fit and finish, but there aren't any photos that show well if it has a lip around the edge to catch liquid spills, can anyone comment on which is best for that? Also if anyone is selling, I'm buying..

I have a Weathertech in my cargo area. Heavy duty and has a 2 inch lip around it.

I have the GM hatch mat and weathertech in the front. The GM mat is great for the price fits well but the lip is small but more than sufficient for my needs. I only use the weathertech in the “muddy snowy” season.

Funny, I have the opposite, weathertech for the hatch, GM for the footrests. As for which one is better, it’s hard for any of us to say, we don’t exactly go out and buy all of the money and and comparison test them. So all of us would naturally say what we bought is better as we phychologically don’t want to think we made a purchase mistake. The only time someone would gripe is if the product has poor quality or failed us.

As for price, you paid much more for the car than the floor mats, get whatever you want and don’t let $10-20 sway your decision - cheapest isn’t always better, though cheapest and best quality should always win out. Sometimes it’s just the ability to select color that wins. And since you posted in a gen1 forum, you might discover that they’ve stopped making your particular year (I wanted weathertech floormats for a 2004 CTS and they are nowhere to be found - I thought they custom made them and should have the computer based pattern somewhere, but no).

One thing I did not expect, after adding the cargo mat, it’s harder to get under the floor to pull out or put away the EVSE. So my EVSE ends up sitting in the cargo area taking up space unless I absolutely need the space, then I’ll put it away. Not having a cargo liner would have been one less impediment (though having to wind it up to store it would have also stopped me many times)
BTW, have you added a voltshelf and voltscreen yet?

My car came with a full set of the Husky liners - All 5 pieces. If you live where you're likely to track snow or mud into the car, I suppose they could be a real time saver. From day one, I found it a bit difficult to get into and out of the drivers side because when I put my foot down, instead of giving me traction I could leverage against, my foot was constantly sliding out from under me. The passenger mats were removed on day three

The cargo liner lasted a bit longer - It didn't appear to be hurting anything. First trip to the store where we had some bags to carry in the cargo area, I kept hearing all sorts of unusual noises I'd never heard before. My wife deduced that everything back there was sliding around with even the slightest motion of the car. The rear mat came out that day and all 5 are stored on a shelf in the garage

Even if I lived where it snowed, I would put them in after the first snow and take them out again ASAP. They may be a solution to one problem, but they create 2 or 3 more. I cut a piece of carpet to put in the back of the other cars - I'll do the same with the Volt

So would you consider selling your Huskys? If your mats are sitting on a shelf and you don't get snow, you should share the mats with someone who can use them (I cannot, since I don't have a gen2 and don't plan on getting one, ever - nothing against the car, but my next vehicle will need to be bigger.... or smaller - an SUV or a big sedan/wagon or a 2 seater sports car)

I have GM rubber mats that barely hold anything, but then again, it has barely snowed here since I got bought snow tires and got rubber floor mats. I shouldn't complain as I got them free (well, almost free - the price of shipping) from another GM-Volt forum user. I'm certain if I give my mats away, Snowageddon 3 will arrive with a fury.

Sure - The problem would be shipping them. I'm not really interested in boxing them up to ship them, but if anyone was to drop by and pick them up, I'd let the set of 5 go for $50

I bought and just installed the original equipment (looking) floor and cargo mats I bought from eBay. Not having the different samples to compare I went with what had the Volt molded into the rubber and not some aftermarket logo on them. I don't know if these are OEM (there was a lot of Chinese writing on the accompanying papers) but they look it. I've always used rubber mats in my cars as they are easier to clean than having dirt work its way into fabric.
