I tried this. Unfortunately, I chickened out increasing the volume 75% (my phone was already maxed). Some parts were vibrating but these were parts I never heard vibrate before. I could not reproduce the vibrating sound from the OnStar console area in the headliner. But if I go 35mph on a specific road, I can reproduce it every time, rain or shine.
I'd give it a shot, but don't expect a sweep from 0 - 22kHz will reveal 100% of all rattles.
Also, bring good hearing protection. I just used those tiny foam thingies you scrunch up then stick in your ears. I still had a headache afterwards due to prolonged sweeping (I wanted to make sure I stuck at each 5Hz for 2 seconds before progressing).
