Many dealers have blatant false advertising to get you in the door, like $15k off this F150, with a note saying if you qualify for all incentives, which is usually impossible. One even had each inventive applied twice, when asked about it they claimed that it was a website mistake and that the incentives were applied twice to the advertised price. They never fixed the "broken" website...

You need someone to go in and see if they can actually buy it for that.

Always "buyer beware" but you never know. My local Cheby dealer here in the corn fields of southern IL has 9 2017 Bolts all listed at $4600 off MSRP and I was told I could still get the GM Military Discount on top of that. So that's about $6K off msrp if you qualify.

Dealer is Jack Schmitt Chevy in O Fallon IL.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is legit in this case, as Bolt EVs are being offered for discount. The vehicle was obviously priced on the high end due to tax credits and maybe trying to take advantage of being early to market.

My hunch is in 2019 they offer a smaller battery in it, slash the price on that one, and make the 60 kwh battery version better equipped for a bit less money.

Cars.com search listings for the lowest price in the USA was a MA dealer with "up to" $16k off. Yeah, as expected, they were misleadingly including all the 3rd party credits and one has to really search the fine print for that disclosure.

I bought a 2017 Bolt LT from my local dealership here in NC. They didn't have the color I wanted but seemed really hot to trot on the deal (a modest discount out the door from MSRP, with a few options packages thrown in, and the DC fast charger hardware).
Reading about these deals in DC and other dealers I'm feeling some buyer's remorse, especially in light of how hard these will be to resell in a few years and get any kind of money back for what you paid. Now that the government is contemplating immediate repeal of the $7,500 tax credit, this just adds insult to injury on the deal. Was counting on that but looks like it may be wiped out with the new tax bill.

The internet and the phone are your friend...I had to wade through a lot of BS before I found someone that gave me the deal I wanted. I think the key is to know what car you want and know what you are willing to pay. :)

Wiped out as of the 2018 tax year. As long as you bought in 2017 you are fine.

Please note, as I posted in another thread, You must take delivery in the tax year. And, reading the instructions, I don't see how I would be comfortable buying a "new" demo or loaner and taking the credit!

The following requirements must be met to qualify for the credit.
* You are the owner of the vehicle. If the vehicle is leased, only the
lessor and not the lessee, is entitled to the credit.
* You placed the vehicle in service during your tax year.
* The vehicle is manufactured primarily for use on public streets, roads,
and highways.
* The original use of the vehicle began with you.
* You acquired the vehicle for use or to lease to others, and not for
resale.
* You use the vehicle primarily in the United States

Looks very legit. I put in an RFQ, and if a deal can be put together, I'll have it trucked to Colorado!
