Dealerships get more profit via services, Electric cars dont need as much service. Electric cars require more knowledgeable sales staff, which requires more $$ in training. Electric cars need new charging infrastructure, which costs $$. Technology changes pace quicker for Electric vehicles, which greatly depreciates older cars on lots, and causes issues in factories.

We're in a cheap gas cycle so a dollar spent advertising a truck or SUV will result in a higher ROI than a dollar spent advertising an EV. We're still in an early adopter phase, and those folks will seek out the information on their own, little need to advertise to them, as they know more about the EVs than the salesmen selling to them. To reach a tipping point we'd need expensive gas and a built-out infrastructure of fast-charging stations, then you'll see more people buying EVs and more mfrs advertising to them.

None of the current compliance EVs are really worth advertising. Tesla doesn't need to, Elon is good at getting free press coverage like Trump.

Bolt EV will likely get some advertising, and BMW i3 has gotten plenty. My guess is advertising will step up as competition increases. Say in the next 3 years.
