What have people been quoted or charged for automobile insurance for a Tesla Model 3? This assumes the current RWD LRR Model 3 as the only model currently shipping.

I realize insurance costs vary by driver age, driving history, age, location, annual miles driven and other factors. For comparison, my current insurance for my 2017 Volt with USAA is $393 for 6 mos. This is with $1k collision and comprehensive deductibles, 300k/500k/100k bodily injury and property damage liability coverage. Right now my annual mileage is very low ~5k miles/yr.

[Updated] I spoke to a USAA representative and requested a quote for a Tesla Model 3 LRR with RWD with the same policy provisions as I have on my 2017 Volt. I received a policy quote from USAA for $409 for 6 months, only $16 for a 6 month period more than what I currently pay for insuring my Volt. Very interesting.

When I checked with State Farm, they told me that it would be about the same as my Volt...

The rate also varies by car model actuarial and power. My 2005 HEMI Magnum was more than the Volt that replaced it. Both had about the same MSRP.

Both of those are great news. I don't think my son has check with his car insurance yet to see how his AWD TM3 will compare to their Volt or Honda Accord (likely selling the later when the TM3 comes this Fall).
