Bolt EV sets a new monthly sales record, while the Volt is off 30% from a year ago.
A year ago, the first ACC-equipped 2017s were rolling out. This year, we've got 2018-anticipation. Even though there's not much changed, the model year matters to a lot of people.

One of those Bolt's was mine. :) A GM private offer pushed me over the fence.

Homelink buttons installed. 3M clear bra goes on later today. Junk yard scissors jacks in hand. G2 caliper paint via TireRack arrives Saturday. Thule roof rack via Amazon arrives Sunday. Heavy duty all weather mats early next week. All I need now is a spare for tire rotations and sidewall gashes.

Wasn't there also last year like 20% off MSRP clearances? I have not seen any Volt clearance sales yet so that would impact also.

Congrats on the purchase!

According to PIN data, the Volt and Bolt EV combined for 46 percent of non-luxury, electric vehicle sales in August.
46% of the non-luxury EV sales is impressive. The Leaf and Prius Prime also fall into this category.

It appears GM is holding firm on lack of incentives and discounts waiting for Gov. "Moonbeam" Brown and the California Sacramento snow flakes to pass a bill to extend California's Green mood and get omissions down by offering $10,000 California Incentive to buy any electric car! It comes out of committee TODAY for passage by full legislature in teh "State" and soon to be "country" o California :))

Looks like the Volt is going to slide permanently into niche vehicle status. Considering the Volt's price, that's probably about right.

GM is not doing any advertising or offering many deals. Volt sales are directly proportional to the amount of effort GM is putting into selling it.

Bolt sales, are also disappointing in my opinion now that the Bolt has been available nationwide for a while now.

Even combining Volt and Bolt sales is disappointing for those looking for the EV revolution. These are not "revolutionary" sales numbers. Not even close...

These still look more like "compliance" sales numbers...

That why I live in California. Run for governor if you have all the answers.

I got $4500 off MSRP in Aug 2016 on my 2017 Volt with ACC. Glad I bought the 2017 when I did, mine will be paid for by Christmas having taken an 18 month loan and made a few extra principle only payments. If GM doesn't have something special in the works for the 2019 Volt I can see sales tanking even further.

The Bolt still has not landed at all dealerships in states that have placed orders since ordering opened up nationwide. Bolt was the plug-in sales leader in July, and is neck and neck with the Model S for the crown last month. What more do you want from a car still rolling out nationally?

And who was the 1 guy that bought an ELR?? Lol

Except for Buick and Cadillac to a lesser degree, GM did quite well...

General Motors unit sales +7.5% to 275,552 units vs. +2% forecast by Edmunds.

Sales by brand: Chevrolet +11.4% to 196,007 units; GMC +12% to 47,718; Buick -23% to 16,811; Cadillac -8% at 15,016

"We had a very strong month, and grew our retail and commercial fleet business on the strength of robust crossover sales at all four of our brands," notes GM sales exec said Kurt McNeil.

GM ended the month with 88 days supply vs. 104 days at the end of July.

Congrats! You missed the Flux Capacitor!

I am also seriously contemplating a Bolt but my occasional and quick day trips between Northern VA and Southwest VA does not favor BEVs. Maybe I will wait for 2018, and more CCS chargers on route 81 in VA (there are about 3 locations now. One is error prone, and the other is now only for hotel guests)

2018 Volts have started shipping to Maryland: Labor Day Sale

Click on Inventory. Select Vehicle Type = New, Model = Volt. Sort by Year (High to Low). There are (10) 2018 Volts either in inventory or on their way including (6) Premier models and (4) LT model 2018 Volts. Most of the 2017 and 2018 Premier vehicles listed have Driver Confidence (DC) Package, DC2 and Adaptive Cruise Control. The prices on the 2017 Premiers look attractive, no?

This^^^

The 2018 Volt's are just starting to hit dealers now after an extended shut down at DHAM. My local dealer got two truck loads (18 Volt's) just last week. Their first batch of 2018's. There appears to be a decent number of 2017's in inventory in the US but with the 2018's hitting the lot I expect some model year clear out deals.

Note we had no 2017 Volt inventory in Canada. So seeing truck loads of Volt's is a good thing here.
