Audible Text message on 2012 Non-MyLink Volt
I recently purchased a used 2012 that does not have Mylink and i have been unable to get any sort of text messaging to work. I saw nothing in the owners manual and did not find anything on this forum, I may have missed it. Is there a setting to allow the car to notify that there is a new text message and allow for audible reply?

The text messaging capability only started in 2014.
That being said, you can use Siri or "OK Google" to ask them to read or write a text message if your phone is paired through Bluetooth. I do it all the time on my 2013. I typically press my iPhone's Home button to initiate, which isn't entirely hands free, but pretty darn close.
