Give Ari_c. a crack at it. I'll bet he shatters the record in a Tesla.

I think it was a closed course? Anyway, the better way is drive enough to get peak efficiency then drive a couple laps in both directions and extrapolate range. I really don't see the point in driving slow for 24 hours. 24 hours of LeMans at peak efficiency. That is a seat gripper... or not. I especially don't see the point in a Model S, maybe in a solar car or something. Oh well, I don't want to rain on his parade, if he gets enjoyment from it that is all that matters. :)

I like how the license plate is roadrunner.

Big deal. I've gone twice that far in half the time driving normally. Too much going on in my life to spend an entire day on a meaningless stunt like this. I guess somebody has to try it....
In the interest of science....

What are the numbers when driving at normal traffic speeds? Driving slow like this is simply making yourself a rolling road hazard. I'm a hypermiler but I won't drive that far under the flow of traffic nor will I drive below the speed limit on a two lane road.

I average 21 MPH in my city over the last 4 months and 4100 miles. So that sounds about right and very realistic.
For regular city driving the average speed includes a lot of stops and accelerations. This "record" was done at a constant 23 MPH, which isn't realistic.

I fail to understand the "not realistic" comments.
Of COURSE it's not realistic. They were just trying to see what they could eke out of the battery by hook or crook.
