hey guys we currently have a 2016 elr in the cashmere leather variant. Before we purchased the car we did an exhaustive amount of research but due to Cadillacs 'infinite wisdom' and sly marketing omission the cashmere leather color did not come with carbon fiber inserts, even though they were all marketed that way and unless you look really, really, close at photographs are very difficult to see. But I digress, I realize this is kind of silly but it is an aesthetic staple in the ELR that I always personally wanted, and am willing to go to (reasonable) cost effective lengths to get it (cause buying it directly through GM is pointless waste of money). Could some kind, compassionate, car loving soul help us out?
I am vaguely open to doing a trade of inserts with someone who has an elr.
Best case scenario is all 5 trim pieces traded (though i honestly don't care about the left center tiny trim piece on the driver side)
Second best scenario we only trade the front dash pieces and leave the door trims alone ( actually I currently have the right side carbon dash trim piece so that one is less important )
Third best scenario, a combination between the first 2 options
sure, the only reason I did not include them is because all you have to do is look up "ELR Light Cashmere" to see the exact spec in our car as a foot note incase this is not known already the wood, chrome, and piano insert are all one piece
here is a very high resolution picture that shows all the details of the wood grain and the piano black in my opinion this is exactly what these trims look like in real life, very little image distortion
In this case I would recommend vinyl wrap as it's very durable. Some of these trim bits will get abused. I saw a guy who did his steering wheel and while it looked nice, it wore in the spots where his hands were frequently on it.
Besides, a laminated wrap is probably essentially what's on there now. And...... only 1 car has to be disassembled.
no Ive already considered this option and am willing to do it MAYBE to some extend but for the driver side trim piece I don't want to wrap it because as much as i can tell no wrap on the market has the same style of cf as the oem cf (the oem weave is larger and a different color) and it would not look right side by side as I already have passenger side cf
If you are patient, keep searching at LKQ online. They used to have entire ELR seat assembly for sale (front and rear), so they are as likely source as any.
I can't imagine any ELR owner willing to pull apart the dash trims of their own ELR - I'm willing to completely dismantle my 1999 Honda or 2000 Rover, but not my 2014 ELR...
you will not necessarily be tearing it apart as I will give you my trim parts in return it would be a 1:1 exchange as noted our elr is a 2016 brand new
It would be worth asking the dealer what those parts would cost you to buy. Then you would have that number in mind to compare with other options. And maybe buy the new GM parts.
update already done this got the dash trims but can't get the door trims piece because it is directly melted on to the door panels
