Anyone having any luck with CarPlay?

I have a 2016 Volt and an iPhone 6 running iOS 9.3.1. Trying to use Apple CarPlay in the Volt has been an exercise in frustration.
The infotainment screen goes black sporadically and sound cuts out. I've tried it with different iPhones, different iOS's, different lightning cables. It should work better than this.

Has anyone had a better experience with CarPlay? Any tricks I'm missing?

Thanks,

Kirk

I've had similar issues with CarPlay on my 2016 Volt and my iPhone 6s (running iOS's 9.2.1, 9.3 and now 9.3.1) where sometimes it takes a good minute for the head unit to detect the phone and enable CarPlay and other times it will just disconnect and act like the lightening cable was removed (tried multiple Apple lightening cables, not knockoffs). Very frustrating at times and I now generally just let my iPhone connect via Bluetooth and not even bother with CarPlay. I was hoping iOS 9.3 would correct these issues but no such luck... Not sure if the problem is with Chevy, Apple or a combination of both...

I have had similar issues my man, literally the same issues. Very frustrating. Chevy says it's an  thing,  says it's a chevy thing. Although I have used CarPlay in my friends new Civic and I haven't seen any issues, nor has she seen anything I've described on my Volt. In my experience it is a Chevy thing.

I have had my 2016 Volt since November 2015 and Carplay has always worked fine since day one. (Using an iphone 6) Now 9.3.1 still no problems. As others have said, make sure you have a good cable and clean connector. Also, may be a thing to consider, i have NO music saved on my iphone because i have read that a lots of music locally stored on the phone could cause problems. I have an apple music subscription and with carplay i use siri to dictate the music i want to hear, works like a charm.

Similar issues - tried both OEM lightning cable and Belkin cable with no luck. Updated the infotainment software a week ago - need to try using the CarPlay again to see if the issues been resolved.

I use it all the time and it works well except once or twice a week it will disconnect and I have to unplug it and plug it in again. I mainly listen to podcasts, but also music and various apps.
I did have an annoying problem when turning off the car and unplugging it would restart through bluetooth and then not always stop after exiting the car. Telling it to forget bluetooth fixed this.
