My 2013 has 27,000 miles now. I charge both at work and at home as i have a long commute (70 miles) whrn the ICE turns on the KWH meter used to almost always read 10.4KWH used. Now it is pretty consistantly 10.3 (small but very repeatable change). I live in southern california and the temps are not a problem (76F today) anyone else seeong a drop in capacity?
Anyone else seen changes in their battery?

A 1% drop in capacity after 27000 miles? At that rate, you will only have a little over 90% left after 250,000.

It's probably not fair to compare since I'm only at 13K, but I've never seen the engine come on at 10.3 used. I usually show 10.5, sometimes 10.4. Haven't really found a way to predict which it will be..

After 25,000 miles (about 21,000 electric), I've noticed no total range change. I do notice that the KWH used goes up during the spring/ summer and goes down during the fall/ winter so the temp has a big effect. If the battery is slightly colder you'll use less total KWH of the battery or a smaller percentage of 16 KWH... it also may depend if the car was just finishing charging just before you drove, you'd use the max battery amount that way....

My volt is 16 months old and I also have a long commute to work ( 109 miles one way) and charge at least twice per day. My volt used to show 10kw used now it's consistently 9.8kw. My volt is a 2012 , 16 months old with 91,944 miles on it in OH. I haven't seen any change in miles I can achieve on the battery.

winranger3 - are you setup on Voltstats.net? If not, that high miler should be out there. You would have the highest mileage of all the volts registered.
Great information from a high-miler. You must be saving quite a bit on gas costs. What was your prior car for the epic commute?

.2% ? Heck, that could be due to the wheel bearing you replaced.
Don't be afraid to post some of your high mileage experiences with the Volt. Anything significant, or all good til the wheel bearing?

I'm a little concerned you had to pay for the bearing. I've had two wheel bearings replaced in a Tahoe within the last 2 years and it was always covered under powertrain because its on a drive axle.
As far as kwh used, those in a climate with big swings will attest to big variation in that number. Personally I've seen .5kwh difference due to charge depletion rate and temp. The faster the depletion rate on your drive cycle, the lower that number gets. But my norm is 10.4kwh. Is your foot getting heavy?

So, tell us, how much $$ have you saved over that 16 month period?
Per GMPartsDirect a front hub/bearing for a 2011-2012 Volt is $100.74. Plus freight, of course, but that's not the price that a Dealership would pay anyhow. Seems excessive that a shop charged you That much "extra" to swap out a cartridge wheel bearing. Couldn't possibly take more than about an hour of shop time. For Something close to $280 of Labor? Ouch!

That would be 36 months OR 36000 miles. And he is nearly 3x past 36000 miles.
In fact he is fast approaching the battery and powertrain warranty limits (100K miles).
I have a theory on this. As my 2012 will give me ~10.2 KWh in the fall/spring but only ~9.8 KWh (or less) in the summer/winter, I think the display only shows what the driver used for propulsion/climate, etc. I think the rest is being used by the TMS so they do not include this in the figure as the driver did not/could not affect this energy usage.
Can someone in the know confirm... WOT???
