I have a 2017 Volt Primere with DRIVER CONFIDENCE PACKAGE 1 & 2. I've noticed an audible alert (three bongs I think it is) if I approach a red or yellow stop light at what the car the thinks is too fast, to alert me of the stop light. Anyone else getting these alerts? I can't find anything in the manual about it. But if that is why I am hearing this "alert" I think its a cool idea.

The camera behind the rear view mirror is seeing the car already stopped (or slowing) at the light and telling you that you are NOT slowing down as fast as the car in front of you.

TSquare,

I would say you may be right, but this was not Forward Collision Alert, with the red LED's lighting up and that fast higher pitch audio alert (as shown on p208). I have heard this other alert go off before, in fact had just told my girlfriend what I thought was going on (how I thought the forward camera was seeing the stop lights) and yesterday after just getting off I90 we came up on a light that had just gone yellow...a second or so later it did it again...I said to her "There....it did it again, on yellow this time". I don't recall a car in front of us....but maybe there was.

I will run some red lights this week to see if I can get it to do it again :p

Anyway, if anyone else experiencing this please post here. If the cars camera is seeing stop lights (that are red or yellow) it is a cool idea it alerts the driver.

My vote is the forward collision warning announcing that you are approaching too fast toward a vehicle in front of you. I believe that there is a setting in the menu to set the distance when the alarm begins to sound. It may show on the DIC in front of the driver.

I have seen a few false alarms. They have always been in bright sunlight when the sun is low on the horizon and a heavy shadow falls across my car. I think the low sun temporarily blinds the camera and it thinks it sees a car stopped.

If your car can recognize a traffic light, it is some kind of secret feature that the car is not supposed to have. But I suppose it is possible that testing and development was carried out in that area and it is somehow turned on in your car. But far more likely, it is something mundane like a seat belt warning acting up, etc.

Well, I have all the driver assist features on my Gen 2 and I unintentionally blew right through a red light a couple of evenings ago. There was absolutely ZERO warning from the car. Zero.

Whatever your experiencing it isn't the car seeing a red light, and your putting your life at risk if you allow that thought to influence your driving habits. That's not a lecture, just a caution.

Mine does the somewhat annoying three-chirp "warning," too. Though it does it at traffic lights, it's not the light itself that's doing it, though I have yet to put my finger on what it's trying to tell me.

Most Likely Lane Change warning, maybe there something on the road that the car thinks you out of your driving Lane..
IF your stopping, it could be the passenger seat belt warning.. I had a package on the passenger seat, and when I slowed it shifted enough for the alert.. Yours might be defected.. :?

Oak guys/gals, I have not pinned down the "Stop light warning" yet, but yesterday I got my dash cam working, so if it happens again...

In the mean time, I think I got a "Pedestrian" warning today. I did see a (dimmed?) option for that in the cars settings, like it was going to be a future addition (or could not be turned off?). Anyway, here is video:

I left in the Forward Collision Warning I get just prior so you could see the red LEDs and hear that. Not sure why that triggered, I was slowing in "L" mode but it must have been in the parameters. But you can see that after I stop and the light goes green I lift my foot off the brake and roll forward a little, I obviously saw the woman and child, but I got 5 warning beeps. Which I think is great, is the car seeing pedestrians. And no, the bus on the right was not moving towards my right side in any way, that was pulling up to the bus stop ahead on the right behind the other bus.

Video quality a bit better if file downloaded first. (it 120MB)

Correct, I have set off the red LED (forward collision notice) plenty of times as the car believes you're not slowing fast enough. If you listen you can hear it mute your music too which is always a give away for me. I've also had it go off when on the highway and someone cuts in front of me too close/fast. In fact, the car will brake for you if you're using the adaptive cruise control. Although, it brakes in an abrupt manner if you ask me. And yes the short few beeps with no red LED is the car detecting objects in your view path which includes pedestrians. That same warning goes off twice when the wife backs out of the garage. Once for how close the side of the car is to the garage door opening and again as she backs into the road as the neighbors mail box is right behind her. At this point. we have become some what immune to all the beeping but at first it was fairly annoying. I also got the object in path beep the other day when backing out of the Bass Pro Shop. A car not even behind me was passing by in far away lane and it picked up the motion and warned me. I actually find the warning when backing up out of parking spots to be valuable. Especially when you happen to be parked between two larger vehicles and can't see around the corners until your car is 1/2 way out. I've had the car warn me both when cars and/or people are moving behind me. I believe it also puts an arrow on the screen to tell which direction they are coming from which is nice.

The front collision warning goes off because the truck in front of you is stopped and you are approaching it too fast.
I believe that I see a pile of snow to the left front of your car while stopped at the light. As you start moving, the front parking sensors see the "object" and activate the alert.

I know why the Forward Collision Alert went off. But that truck wasn't fully stopped, the car must have thought my closing 'rate' (without any brake applied) might lead to trouble. Which is fine. Your suggestion its the parking sensors triggering the 5 beeps is interesting, but I don't think so. I was going forward and the path forward was clear. The wide angle of the camera lens may also make that snow appear closer than it was.

The front parking sensors wrap all the way around the front. In addition to the ones facing forward, there is one on each side just in front of the wheels. I believe they will alert you if you are backing up and turning if one of the front corners get too close to something.
