Hello,

Just wondering if anyone bought a Volt that did not live in an area that had incentives/rebates? I live in Alberta, Canada and was thinking about buying one but without any of these incentives they are a bit expensive and heard that the depreciation is a killer.

Hello,

I also live in the prairies and I doubt anyone is getting any incentives/discounts in any red neck provinces.
At this point all I can hope is the Feds get off their buts AND any discount is retroactive. I'm not holding my breath as the 3 highest populated provinces already have decent to high discounts and they would have to give them the same.
I paid similar to what people are saying in the other Canadian pricing thread. I made the commitment for environmental reasons and like the vehicle so would do it again. I don't think you will be disappointed and if you have specific questions feel free to PM me as I don't get time to follow the forum much.
... have been on electric which worst case in my area the cost comparison is about half good days it's more like 1/4 of the cost of running on gas
Same here, with high gas prices and reasonable electric rates, I'm at about 1/5th the cost.

You can't compare to ICE rates if you do most of your driving around town, especially if a lot of shorter runs <20km.
The Volt will get it's rating but the ICE not even close and emit a lot of noxious crap since the cats aren't lit up for a good part of the trip.

Obviously you save more in the winter so i am sure it's more but the almost 0 maintenance is great as well. Plus it's a fun car to drive ...
I save significantly more in summer, for me winter is closer to 1/3rd the cost. Have you spent an entire winter with it?

The less efficient cold charging combined with either electric heat or ERDTT gas consumption, makes a bigger difference than the extra gas my ICE was using in winter (small V6 Quattro).
