I backed into a pillar recently and smashed my left rear taillamp housing as well as damaged the upper and lower bumper covers. All of the damage is cosmetic but not something that can be buffed/painted.

I would like to replace the pieces myself. I have already ordered a replacement taillamp housing but all I can find for the bumper pieces are primed ready-to-paint parts, using the official GM part numbers.

Does anyone know if these pieces can be ordered in one of the existing factory paint colors?

I'm looking specifically for these,
Upper Bumper Cover, rear, GM Part #23369766
Lower Bumper Cover, rear, GM Part #23369767

Thanks.

Also, almost any decent paint shop can paint a primed bumper.

Agree that your limited to a used part off ebay, or pre-primed. Unfortunately most new OEM parts will come only primed rather than painted for the simple fact that they generally need to be color matched to the existing color. Granted one would think if you order "white" it will be a match for your "white" but varying levels of oxidization and fade as well as paint lot number will impact each individual car which is why paint matching is generally done to get a proper match.

Thanks, all! I didn't find anything for the 2016/2017 Volt on Ebay unfortunately. The info about paint fading and oxidation levels certainly makes sense.

Ordering pre-primed parts seems to be the best course at this point. Interestingly, both upper and lower bumper pieces include a $75 core fee, for a total of $150. It would also cost me $150 to have those parts delivered, so presumably it would cost me $150 to recover my $150 core fee. ;-)

I think I may just have a local body shop order the parts as well. I'll know when I get a few estimates.
