My friend back east sent me a few new original chevy volt compatible 100GB hard drives. He wants me to format and set it up so he can put it back into his fleet of chevy volts and store more music etc. I found the download but oddly the one that says us/canada has just two text files about licensing, not 50MB of files like the other downloads.

1). Can I just copy all the files onto the hard drive as is? or do I have to expand and set up the files somehow?
2). How will I know which one corresponds to which model or year? What do the numbers below mean.
3) Note that i don't have access to the cars and don't want to fly out there from LA unless I have to.

Sorry for the newbie questions. I'm a mac guru but this is greek to me. And thanks

I found this here:

How many Volts in his "fleet" ??

I guess this all confuses me, there are no hard drives in Volts after the 2012 year, though maybe all his Volts are 2011 or 2012. It seems easier to use a super-tiny-but-lots-of-storage USB flash drive then go through the hassle of upgrading the HD.

Hdd's in hand

Thanks for the tip. I agree with your opinion. For most users, it would be much easier to use a memory stick.

Well, he has invested in the hard drives already. So I'm sure someone out there has an idea how to setup the new drives.

Might be good to check if a nav system update is still possible with any replacement hard drive or SSD.

I don't have access to the original drives sadly.
But see the link I have up there? That's a tiny OS and nav at 50MB. I need to just put in on a drive and boot a windows laptop I have sitting around.

Anyone want a 100GB upgrade to their nav? Make an image of your drive and I'll send you one. If it means I can keep this big client happy. He's paying me handsomely for this as a test for many more jobs to come.
