I did that on a high way, the car slows down as expected, and the output was huge like -50 kw. but I can hear the louder-than-normal sound from the motor maybe because it had to spin so fast and hard (I don't hear that usually when I do that at lower speed).

Is that normal? Any harm in doing that?

None. -50 Kw is the max regen. After that it will dump power instead of recharging the battery.

I frequently use regen and switching to L, many times in concert, to slow down from 75-80 MPH when getting off the freeway. One thing I have noticed is that sometimes the regen paddle doesn't do a damn thing until I tap the brake pedal - then it works.

Louder than normal sound? I don't hear anything different that driving at 75mph when using the paddle. It is probably not that bad. But it is still strain on cables and motor mounts. Same for acceleration for motor mounts. The car has a lot of torque and being a Chevy I am suspicious they use the best mounts. In the long run they may fail sooner.

What does it do to "dump power"? I would think it would regen to the max of -50KW, then not brake anymore than that until he brake petal is tapped.
Exactly. It doesn't dump anything anywhere except through the brake pads after -50Kw threshold Is met.
