This started happening last week. Plug in phone before I get going. The android Auto Button appears on the infotainment screen. Press it and it just goes black. I left it there for 20 min one day on way home never gave anything but black screen. Phone thinks its in android auto mode. Tried another phone and get the same results. Will try another cable tonight. Has anyone experienced this before. 2018 LT

I've had it where the android auto is not even detected.

And almost always, when calling, the bluetooth voice doesn't connect to the car properly and the voice goes through the phone which is a pain because I can't hear it. Happens on two different phones.

I think the Volt's android/carplay is a bit buggy

This happens to me on occasion. Most often, it's somehow related to putting the car in reverse. So: Plug in phone, touch AA icon, put car in reverse before the AA screen displays, screen displays the rear camera, put car back in Drive, and the screen goes blank. I can get normal Volt screens to show, but AA remains blank. The only solution at that point is to unplug the phone and start over.

The way to avoid (or at least minimize) the blank AA screen is to not touch the AA icon before putting the car in reverse.

Ok i will give this a try today , as most times at work i drive into the parking spot. Seems weird that reverse would effect this. So far Android auto has become unusable in the last week for me. I imagine the dealership will not be able to fix this if it is a software issue as I have the latest I thought. I will check my software version today as well perhaps there is an update. I wonder if there is a bug reporting tool for the software engineers at GM?

By the way, what kind of phone do you have? I had all sorts of bugs, including the blank screen, when I was using an older phone (2014 moto X). I noticed that my wife's Pixel was a lot less buggy, and when I upgraded to a current-model Motorola, the bugs almost completely vanished. (Almost. With both phones, we still have occasional blank screen problems, or cases where we plug the phone in and it refuses to connect. Usually unplugging and re-plugging works, but on rare occasions the only solution is restarting the car.)

I have issues with Android Auto often enough.

I may have to disconnect and reconnect the usb cable to get the AA icon to show. If it refuses to show I'll unlock my phone to find a red AA screen telling me an error has occurred, after which I hit EXIT and reconnect the cable and AA is working again.

If you continue to have trouble or AA stops showing up all together find the AA app on your phone and delete the cache and/or data. This always resolves weird issues for me.
