I had received the Android Auto update several months ago but only recently decided to use the Google maps function while on a short road trip. After driving without issue for an hour or so, the App would freeze, go black, then reboot. This continued several times after, causing me to eventually turn the app off. Has anyone else experienced this? Known cause? Any fixed available?

Are you sure the plug connections between the phone and car weren't loose or got jiggled?

Otherwise, some brands/models of phones seem to have trouble with the GM cars, although that has usually been with Bluetooth.

I had a similar problem, on my previous phone and in a new one now, both times the re-booting thing has been corrected by uninstalling android auto, unpairing bluetooth, leave as less trace as possible, then reinstall androind auto, re-pair bluetooth and make sure all authorizations and accesses are granted

Same problem here. My question is do you re-pair only with android or with my link as well? And if both, in what order? When I got my car the dealer walked me through pairing to mylink. I then connected android afterwards. Im still not sure if I should only use my link or only use android. They don't seem to like to work together.
