Well, last night my Moto G3 decided it didn't like the Chevy Volt's software security. Go figure.

The problem seems specific to my phone - not Android Auto or the Chevy Volt. My wife uses the same phone, same Android version, and same AA version - with absolutely no problems. AA worked just fine on my phone until last night. I tried removing the Volt in AA's car list and then re-adding, to no avail. I'll also try uninstalling and reinstalling AA later today.

Any suggestions or ideas?

Android Auto software reinstallation got my phone working again.

Googling AA error 7 reveals a time difference between phone and car might cause the problem. My phone sets time and date off T-Mobile's GSM network. My wife's otherwise-identical phone sets time and date off Sprint's CDMA network. At this point I'm wondering if my phone's time was invalid. All is well that ends well. :)

That is an oddly reassuring error. It's like it's using time to make sure both devices can authenticate correctly to avoid replay attacks or something. I'm impressed.
