Nice write up...

Had to chuckle at "I wanted to check out the three EV chargers in town, just to see how accurate PlugShare was. All three chargers I had located in the app before the trip did in fact exist. One was blocked by a pair of gas-powered cars..."

In my best Bruce Willis voice.. Welcome to the party pal!!

After seeing the equipment under the hood, I hope the GM engineers will redesign the location of the controller closer or directly on the transaxle for the Gen 2 Bolt EV so all those orange cables can be reduced, as in the Gen 2 Volt. Such a redesign will help migrate the entire power train into other GM models, especially the Chevy Equinox/Buick Envision/GMC Terrain CUV. And GM may later offer the entire BEV package (power train and battery) as they do offer "crate engine/transmissions" packages for performance options.

If I had the money and complete knowhow, I would buy such a package to convert my 2009 Chevy Equinox. It has free space below the rear wheels (for the AWD differential option) and the gas tank is large (20 gallons), so a large battery will fit there under the floor and never take up cargo space.

I really think chevy needs to get the UI of the EV/EREV as nearly identical as they can. While there are some differences the various status screens on the center console should have the same color scheme and icon sets.
