I would like to hear from other members who were able to get this repaired. Does it pay to bring it to the dealer when the message is not showing, or does the computer tell them what happened? Advice appreciated!

If the air bag light came on, then there was a code set. The code will be stored for about 100 ignition cycles after the last failure. The tech working on the car should be able to diagnose the problem with the history code.

Did you also get SERVICE AIRBAG - This message displays if there is a problem with the airbag system. See your dealer for service.

Or was just the Airbag Readiness Light remaining on - This light shows if there is an electrical problem with the airbag system. The system check includes the airbag sensor(s), the passenger sensing system, the pretensioners, the airbag modules, the wiring, and the crash sensing and diagnostic module.

It was service airbag light. So now that I know it holds the code (thanks to the forum) I made a service appointment for next Wednesday.

I figure worse case scenario at least I will be documenting the problem as having started under waranty. The message is very intermitment and unlikely to be lit up when I see the service people.......hence a crapshot to be fixed?

Yep. It sets a code and the dealer can see it. Mine was the module under the passenger seat. Had to be replaced. Costs $500-700.

Covered under warranty ??
It would not be covered under the Voltec warranty. Just covered under the bumper the bumper 12/36 but sadly long past that.

Do you remember what the code was?

I am having a similar issue. My code is either B0018 or P0018. I could not understand the lady from OnStar. Service Airbag warning comes up on the DIC and the light comes on. It comes and goes. Nothing on the passenger seat.
