The original Voltec EVSE's have the LED light in the schnozzle. Why others don't baffles me. It's very handy in the dark.

I wouldn't PAY for an illuminated charge port, but I'm glad the '17 I got used has it.

Having illuminated charge port is cool if you charge your car outside the garage so you can show off to your neighbors.

Sure but an LED and the 20' of #14 wire are pennies. Given that it is a very nice feature at a few dollars markup, I wonder if it's a patent issue rather than the extra cost.

Not if you have to contract to make a custom J1772 wire vs. use one of the off-the-shelf options and possibly have it certified separately, etc.
