The Volt has a Home setting so it knows when it's near a "friendly" charger. Add a "Work" setting so those who can charge at work and at home can tell the Volt when it's approaching the "work" charging station.

Good idea. Or why not just a list of "home" locations that could be any number. Some people might have multiple homes, relatives' homes or other charging places they would want recognized.

Agreed. IE: two homes; two states; two electric rates; two off-peak times.
