Yesterday our 2016 started acting a little strange. Whenever even slight acceleration is called for, it starts the engine and runs while driving. This morning, the electric range was showing as 46 miles, and after driving about 15 miles it still shows 46, with the engine shutting off and on many times. I tried changing to "hold" mode and then back to "normal", but the engine still comes on whenever I accelerate, even fairly gently. Anyone else experience this? Suggestions?

Any chance your hood is not completely closed?

Do you use gas on occasion? Perhaps it is burning off the old gas.

Is the Check Engine light on?

After reading the suggestions, one thing came to mind: the Volt was purchased 1 year ago, has about 7,000 miles, and has never been refueled. So I just filled the tank (7.2 gallons) and it seems to work fine!
My wife and I will swear that we never got the "Fuel Maintenance Mode" warning displayed, but I guess that's what it was trying to do: burn the rest of that old gas.
Guess I better remember that in November 2017 !

If you cancel FMM at first, it will force a burn after 24 hours. If you don't want to burn all the gas, just add an amount equal to whats already in the tank. That will postpone it for some time. Of course, the idea is that you use that gas in future, on your own terms.
