Problem: ACC doesn't slow down the car when a car in front slows down.

TEST:
Driving ~60mph
Set ACC per manual on longest (3 bars).
There is a car in front of me driving about 5 mph slower.
I am getting closer, there is a green indicator of a car in front.
I am getting closer, the indicator turns orange.
My car doesn't slow down.
It gets too dangerous to continue the test. I apply brakes.

May be I do not have ACC, just the buttons? :)
I bought my Volt on May 25th.

Sure doesn't sound like it based on your description. What does the window sticker show?

The easiest way to confirm this is to look at your front grill. Is the front grill Chevy Bow Tie shiny and smooth plastic?

But on the surface what you describe tells me you don't have the $595 ACC option.

Sounds like you don't have ACC, but rather front collision alert. Like BAZINGA said, ACC Volts have a different grill around the Chevy emblem. If your grill is not segmented, you don't have ACC.

Based on the date on which you bought the car we can say that you do not have ACC.
The first 2017 ACC Volts appear to have been produced on 6/06/2016.

There was a long discussion of this on the 2017 waiting room thread (pages in the 50's and 60's) as these cars were held up for over a month after the original TPW before being produced. In my case I had a TPW of 5/09 but the car, like several others on the thread was produced around 6/06. There were no reports of ACC cars being produced before that date and it was a couple of weeks before ACC volts started appearing on LA dealer's lots.

As mentioned by bro1999, easy to check when the car is parked. Segmented grills may not be obvious, but there is another way. Cars with ACC have flat printed logo, which is necessary in order for the radar to work. Cars without ACC have metal raised badges.

I have a "metal raised badge" so no ACC for me :(
However if I were offered now the ACC for $575 I would not want it. So that is fine :)
Thank you all for your answers!
