ABS, Stabilitrack, brake assiste, parking brake lights all on!

First time this happened was after doing a hard stop to avoid a deer, next time I drove the car all the title line dash lights were on... next drive after that they were all gone.

This time I can't recall any potential triggering event from my last drive, but I was pretty sure they would go away if I shut down the car for 5 min and re-started it so I hit the onstar button and had them run a code check while the warning lights were still on. They only pulled one code, C1123, but didn't have any info on what the code actually means, and I can't find any info on-line about it. As suspected all the warning lights were gone after a 10 min stop at the grocery store.

I have low hope of the dealership figuring this out since it is an intermittent fault, my one hope is that the C1123 code points the way!

Any experience with this type of fault drop a reply!

Ive twice had my Volt lose the bulk of its stopping ability, all the same lights came on. Did you experience a loss of breaking at any point?

The Volt appears to have a weakness in that, when regenerative breaking or abs fail, the car is left with 10-20% of its ability to stop (my estimates). If you've experienced this condition, you'll know it.

Bottom line, I would start with the break pressure control module. It may have experienced an over pressure event that cleared on the next restart.

Almost all my braking is via regen, only when coming to a stop do I use mechanical brakes. They do seem to be a bit weaker and I would probably notice it more if I was braking harder.

I will make a service appointment and get things checked. Doubt it is warranty covered though, almost 80K miles on car and I don't think brakes are covered under the powertrain warranty.

C1123 - ABS system. Right front hydraulic circuit leak detected.

Not sure it's a real malfunction though. You should have it checked.

Similar type errors happen when you are dyno testing cars with ABS, but there is nothing wrong, the computer gets confused.

If the test passes 3 start cycles, it goes away.

Sometimes a test failure is freak occurrence, a perfect storm. So it re-tests to see if it's really a failure.

I had this after a hard stop on wet railway tracks, transmission in 'L'. It seemed to confuse the hell out of every system in the car. I was just around the corner from my dealer, so I drove gingerly over, shut the car down, and the issue was gone when I restarted. No codes. It's never come back in three years, and the only thing I've done differently is to avoid 'L' in slippery conditions. Draw your own conclusions.

It seemed at the time that the car had dropped regen, and the pedal pushed right past into an unassisted mode. I still had braking but with a very high pedal effort.
