Note they mention how Tesla is credited, which I'd say is largely true. GM might have been included in that sentence, but ever since the right wing was mean to the Volt, GM has backed away from promoting their EV products and overall EV development. As such, they've failed to carve out the recognition space as an electrification pioneer, and will never have that opportunity again. So of those 30 million EV intenders, what brands are going to pop to mind? I'll bet GM is way down on those lists in general, and it's their own fault.

Here in pickup country, I'm thinking interest in pickups is greater than 15%.

18-yr-old grandkid wants an EV though. But only because her mom pays for the electricity!

Maybe, maybe not. Blackberry was the innovative king of cell phones for a long time. Then old, big Apple after many half steps with Newton PDA's (personal digital assistants) decided it could do BlackBerry one better and came out with something called the iPhone.

Big companies can recover, innovative first entrants don't always maintain their lead long term. GM is not Apple, but it could decide to do Tesla one better. Though I have some doubt they have the will.
