Pretty much all manufacturers should go this route. EV packaging is so much different than ICE that they are building purpose-built platforms anyway. Why not split it out into a separate division?

But the problem with creating a separate division is similar to Toyota's Scoin woes, you almost need a separate dealership network and service centers.
So instead of creating a separate car line, the right solution is to just electrify every car within your product line. Again, glacial pace. Chevy Malibu and Cadillac CTS are good first steps like the Ford Fusion Energi and Focus EV. We just need more.
