Maybe it won't be as much of a inefficient pig as the "new" Beetle.

But, frankly, I wish they wouldn't do it. Past vehicle designs are past designs because the technology improved.

But, I guess that since the hippies are now retiring they probably figure they can sucker some of them with modern takes on Beetles and Westfalias.

Had two Beetles, one for the basis of an Aztec 7 and the other to drive the snot out of using it for work. Made some good money on that as the per diem rates were based on a new Chevy Malibu.

On concept cars they're required by law.
So are no door handles, yet this concept has them. Someone's getting fired. Side view mirrors are also against the law, as are wheels less than 20" diameter, haha.

Mmmm... there's an exemption for flush handles, but only in drawings.

VW also says they are going to build an all electric AWD version of the old Van......that would be cool ! (not holding my breath though)

And you might get one before an M3. ;)

I have known the original VW Beetle as a passenger since 1962. I have seen the newest Beetle design, and it is quite aerodynamic enough to become an EV with the same body. Getting the battery in the body is the big engineering job waiting for VW.

Don't know about the current Beetle but the original one had a floor pan ready to accept.
