I’ve been a lurker on this forum for years, but finally own a Volt of my own. It’s a CPO 2015, pearl with beige leather interior, premium trim, safety packages 1&2, Bose audio, Nav, backup camera and Polished wheels.
It’s the 3rd Plug-in car for me, but the 1st EV that I bought, instead of leasing. I started my EV experience in a Focus Electric, which I loved, since it was a perfect fit for my situation at the time. My next lease was a C-Max Energi, which served me well under different circumstances. For my current circumstances, the Volt splits the differences between those 2 cars and gives me the best features of each, in a single car
I’m very comfortable with the Ford EV ecosystem, but new to the Gen1 Voltec, but learning rapidly
I already have a 30 amp L2 EVSE, from my Focus days, so I am enjoying 4 hour charge times and pre-conditioning without range loss. On my somewhat hilly commute, I am able to make my 32 mile round trip commute with 12-13 miles of range left on the guess-o-meter. My commute may bump up to 60 miles round trip soon, which was my main reason for resisting the urge to pick up an off-lease full electric. On nice days, I would have been fine, but a little weather, or a few errands would have created much range anxiety. There were a few i3 Rex cars locally with ACC that tempted me, but they were $8k more and I’m not sold on the hampered performance and limited extended range, not to mention the weird skinny tires :-|
I look forward to reviewing many historical posts with a new perspective since I am now more invested in the platform.
