This actually doesn't surprise me. Once the Federal tax credits expire for GM there's no reason for GM to keep the Voltec drivetrain in a single model. GM has already put it into the Malibu Hybrid, which doesn't qualify for the credits because it's not a plug in hybrid. The rumored Cadillac SUV PHEV is also another sign that GM engineering and marketing are finally ready to take the Voltec drivetrain out of beta and into their mainstream vehicles.
Also, consider that while 2020 is a ways out GM has to look that far out in order to adjust their assembly plants and tool up for upcoming changes.
