Our son's 2017 Volt built-in Navigator displays correctly but ours doesn't. It only shows a thin strip of the map and two lines of Radio Pre-Sets. We have gone over the Settings numerous times ... to turn off the Radio Pre-Sets to NO AVAIL!

What do we have to do in order to make the map useable?

Dealer Re-Set or Firmware Upgrade?

Press and hold the little 'up' arrow in the middle of the top row of presets and drag them downward to hide the rows you don't want there. Also, the presets, menu items, etc... should 'go away' after about 30 seconds while on the map screen until you tap the screen again.

Dragging to hide or display the radio presets has become one of the most frustrating features on GM vehicles for me. Our 2017 GMC Acadia had a similar issue. It takes a firm press and swipe with your finger on just the spot on the screen to hide or display. Once you figure that out then your good to go. It takes more pressure then your iPhone/iPad which causes confusion. I originally had 3 rows of five presets displayed which ate up half the screen.

Good luck.
