Had the new 2017 Volt for a month and very happy. I have two questions for the veterans.

1. I set a home location for delayed charging but about every third day the car doesn't recognize that it is home. I have to reset the home location to activate delayed charging. Anybody else have this issue?

2. I'm enjoying all the stats from myvolt.com. Will access to these stop after the intro OnStar subscription expires? If so, what are some other ways to get the numbers?

Can't speak for #1, but #2 you can sign up for voltstats.
It doesn't give all the same info, but most of the basic distance/ev distance/gas used, etc.
It works so long as you have an active onstar subscription of any kind (including basic).
Myvolt requires a higher tier plan to be active.

I am having the same problem, with every 3rd day, the car seems to forget the home location and forget the delayed charging setting. It started sometime in the past couple of weeks, maybe after I first hit the 90 day "reset home location" period? I'm not sure? This forgetting of the home location has happened maybe four times now, so I'm starting to see a pattern.

I also prefer the "Modern Enhanced" instrument cluster so I can see kw usage on driving and on regen braking. At the same time the car forgets the home location, the instrument cluster also switches to the default (probably Modern).

Those are the only settings that seem to be forgotten every 3 days or so.

Home location, I understand, is a rather precise GPS setting. A posting appeared recently from someone who set the home location while parked in the driveway, and later couldn’t access delayed settings while parked in the garage. Resetting home location while parked in the garage solved the problem. Have you been parking in the same spot and having the problem, or are you parking in various spots around your home?

I agree, I've had the free basic since my 3 month "new customer" expired in December last year and I rely heavily on myvolt to check my battery level on the fly. The onstar app however is hobbled and doesn't give the data over the app without a paid subscription. Perhaps that is what you're thinking? You can however still remote start/lock/unlock with the free basic using the app.

Yeah, that's included in basic (remote keyfob services) - but do you have the charge stats/mileage history pages? My understanding was those go away with basic.

I get all of that with basic. It even keeps up to date on voltstats. Most of the app/web stuff continues to work (send destination to vehicle, etc) It's just that you lose the app data for charge/range data as well as any stolen vehicle assistance, onstar navigation, etc. I even still get monthly diagnostic reports emailed to me.

Ditto what freshcut said, canehdian. I use the OnStar RemoteLink and not the MyChevrolet app on my android phone. I get full FOB functions (haven't used the horn & lights in a while, but everything else works) and the full vehicle stats which include: charge status/level, miles, tire pressure, override command to charge now vice delayed charging, setting delayed charging, setting text and email notifications.

Really hate that OnStar can be inconsistent with their plans. Basic for one person should be the same for another person half a country away. Maybe I'll regret this thinking one day if it turns out my Basic plan is actually more featured packed than what it's supposed to be.

I've set the location under my carport and just outside. The distance is about two car lengths. The last few days, I've driving into the carport slowly watching the charge screen. The car has pick up the home location so far. My thought is if I drive under the carport too quickly, the GPS doesn't have time to get the precise location.

The trip by trip mileage history and information on each charge are what I like. I couldn’t get that data off Voltstats but it's still available on with OnStar Basic? Does anybody use a OBD device to get this info?

Sure does. If you go to myvolt.com, log in, you'll see a tab that says "mileage" click that and it shows the past 7/30/365 days. It also has a breakdown of each trip as indicated by when you press power on the car.

For the most part I have yet to see any benefit for upgrading from the free basic onstar account if all you're interested in is current telemetry and data. Sure there are a few features you lose between the mobile app and the web interface, but those are easily remedied by just going to the website on your mobile device if it's something you really need.

It's not really speed-related. It just drifts. GPS all by itself is good to about a 10m circle, GPS plus WAAS (Wide Area Augmented System) brings that down to 2-5m depending on how far you are from an uplink point.

That's good to hear that basic still includes this functionality.
Others here have noted otherwise - but it's Onstar. Their profiles were probably messed up

I still have extended original service through October, I'll know in November what happens to mine when it flips to basic.
