I ran my own codes on my '17 Volt and got U1510. To my understanding, this is an active grille shutter issue. My Volt currently has 38k miles and therefore the bumper to bumper is expired but everything else (drivetrain, PZEV emissions, emissions, voltec, powertrain, emissions select state, and corrosion) still have time before expiration. I have service scheduled at the dealer in a couple days but do not want to have anything done if this is not covered as I have a mechanic that can do the work.

Anybody have any experience with this particular situation?

I am guessing it only affects the efficiency of the car, if that. However, it is causing my car not to be able to remote start and that can be problematic sometimes in my climate. So, I should assume they're going to charge me an astronomical price for diagnosing it and then again for something out of warranty aren't they?

Update: Just what we thought, out of warranty and they wanted to charge me $671 plus tax and diagnostic fee ($130). I asked for GM goodwill help and they came down to around $300 considering I was just out of warranty. I guess not bad considering it could be much more expensive... It was stuck open so it wasn't a dire need but remote start is a problem and the part itself was about $210, mind you that is dealer price.
