Overall their assessment seems fairly neutral, the comment "it just works" looks like it is from one of their other editors. I.e., he seems to like it more than the writer of the article who says:
This is a terrific EV. Arguably the best on today’s market. Is it a terrific car, though? Of that, I’m not 100 percent convinced
This is a general problem with EVs that not all manufacturers understand (Tesla gets this point and is why they get so much hype).

The problem with most EV reviews is they do not live with the car long.

After you get used to the EV life, when you have to drive an ICE, you notice things about the ICE that suck, like refueling, shopping gas prices, downshifting to pass, poor high altitude performance, waking up with the FUEL LEVEL LOW light, preheating/engine warmup, not always having full punch when you floor it, etc.

Reviewers should live with an EV for a month, then drive an ICE for a month, then review the EV.

Qinsp, I agree with you about giving the Bolt more driving time and comparing it to an ICE car. Also my experience with one pedal driving in the city is it has been one hundred percent one pedal. I only touch the brake pedal when I'm holding steady stop on a hill. Otherwise never. I convinced my friends who drive together to work to buy a Bolt and now the husband and wife fight over who gets to drive it. It's damn fun.
