13s had a known issue--it was "fuzzy" and lacked detail (like when your image gets "blocky" on TV from low bandwith). Replaced under warranty without issue and has been fine since. Sorry to hear of any such problem on the '17.

My 2017 camera is pretty clear and very sharp but often needs to be cleaned. It's far sharper than my previous 2013 Volt camera.
+1 (much better than the camera's used on my 2012 and 2013 Volt). But it does need to be clean to be effective.

The camera on mine looks great in daylight but is soft and somewhat blurry at night... I plain to have them look at it next time it is in...

The backup camera image on my 2017 Volt Premier is quite clear during the day. At night the image provided by the backup camera suffers from multiple ghost reflections from the Volt's tail lights and backup lights. Bright lights within the field of view of the backup camera will wash out the image. I recently had a loaner vehicle that was a 2017 Volt LT. The backup camera on the loaner Volt performed pretty much the same as my own Volt, good during the daytime not so good at night. My last vehicle was a 2011 Ford Fusion, it had a backup camera but could not display trajectory lines only fixed distance indicator lines. At night, such as when backing down my driveway, the Ford Fusion backup camera performed better than my Volt's backup camera (the Ford did not have any ghost reflections.)
